Counselor's Corner

Optional Counseling Lesson Week of May 4 - 8

During the school year, I share lessons with the students about various careers to help them to be aware of many different types of jobs and we relate the school work they are currently completing with future career choices. This week's lesson allows students to explore the work of being a pilot.  Go to the YouTube video listed below to enjoy a short video on the career of a pilot.  If I can be of assistance, please contact me at

Pilot Perseverance - Small Sparks, Big Dreams - SEASON 2

Here is an optional lesson that parents may choose to use with their children. This is a story written by Julia Cook who is a counselor and has written many books that I have used in the past with our students.  She has written this story to help students understand the coronavirus and how to be safe.

If I can be of any assistance, please email me at

Optional Counselor Activities for the weeks of April 20th - April 24th.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I know that the COVID-19 outbreak and the differences in our world has caused stress on us all.  Below is a link to short videos that you may like to do with your child/children to help you and your family stay healthy both physically and mentally while we are experiencing this stressful time.  These videos show stretches and breathing activities that can be used to help reduce stress. More lessons are being added each day, so I would encourage you to watch a video each day for the next two weeks.  Right now, there are 14 videos planned. The owner of this program, Lisa Flynn, has given permission for her work to be shared with our parents and students. If I can be of assistance, do not hesitate to email me.  (

Thank you,

Terri Callaway, Eastside Elementary
